๐Ÿ’ผ EPF Calculation

Interest computed on the monthly running balance and credited once at year-end.

Monthly Rate = 8.25% รท 12 = 0.6875% Monthly Int = Balance ร— 0.006875 Annual Credit = Sum of 12 monthly values

Employer 12% split: 8.33% (โ‰คโ‚น1,250) โ†’ EPS; rest โ†’ EPF. If not in EPS, full 12% โ†’ EPF.

EPS Pension = (Pensionable Sal ร— Yrs) รท 70 Salary cap = โ‚น15,000 ยท Max = โ‚น7,500/mo Bonus: +2 yrs if service > 20 years
๐Ÿ›๏ธ PPF Calculation

Annual compounding at 7.1%. Deposits on 1st April earn full-year interest.

FV each year = (Balance + P) ร— (1.071) Extension (no contrib): FV = FV ร— 1.071 Wealth Ratio = Final FV รท Total Invested

PPFC actual rule: interest on minimum balance between 5th and last day of each month; credited once annually.

๐Ÿ“ˆ NPS Calculation

Monthly SIP compounds at (rate รท 12) each month. Returns vary by fund (E/C/G allocation).

Corpus = P ร— [(1+r)^n โ€“ 1] / r ร— (1+r) Lump Sum = Corpus ร— (100 โ€“ annuity%) Pension = Annuity ร— (Ann. Rate รท 12)

At exit: minimum 40% must go to annuity (or 20% if corpus โ‰คโ‚น8L). Annuity is taxable as income received.

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better โ€” EPF, PPF or NPS?

Each serves a different purpose. EPF is mandatory for salaried employees and includes an employer match โ€” making it the most efficient corpus builder. PPF suits safe voluntary savings with full EEE status. NPS offers potentially higher market-linked returns and an extra โ‚น50K deduction via 80CCD(1B), but 40% of corpus is locked into annuity at exit.

Can I invest in all three simultaneously?

Yes. EPF is automatic for salaried employees. You can additionally open a PPF (up to โ‚น1.5L/yr) and invest in NPS Tier I to claim the extra โ‚น50K deduction. Diversifying across all three creates a balanced, low-risk retirement corpus.

What does EEE vs EET mean?

EEE means all three stages โ€” investment (deduction), accumulation (returns), and withdrawal (maturity) โ€” are fully tax-exempt. EPF and PPF are EEE. NPS is EET: investment and growth get tax benefits, but the 40% annuity portion is taxed as income when received.

If I change inputs in a calculator tab, will the overview cards update?

Yes. The calculators are fully embedded from their original files. This dashboard reads result values from each calculator every second and updates the overview cards and growth chart automatically.

What is EPS and who qualifies?

EPS (Employees' Pension Scheme) provides a monthly pension funded by 8.33% of the employer's contribution (capped at โ‚น1,250/month). You need 10+ years of EPS-eligible service to receive a monthly pension. Formula: (Pensionable Salary ร— Service Years) รท 70, maximum โ‚น7,500/month.
